“Coming out of the heart of South Africa, this great teacher lives, breathes and eats everything rhythmical, musical, creative and entertaining. Don’t be deceived by his quiet persona as he has the excellent skill of working with his students to bring a great understanding of music, movement and rhythmical interpretation of dance whether you are an absolute beginner to a competing star. With not only a wealth of competitive success, Eksteen has also enjoyed the challenges of what it takes to perform live on Strictly Come Dancing South Africa with his celebrities.” – Karen Hardy
Eksteen started dancing at the age of 9 and became a South African champion in Freestyle and Latin American dancing. He attended Beverley Hammond and Dave Campbell Dance Schools and also trained with Lillian Phororo and Tyrone Watkins. He also had the honour of representing South Africa in the World Latin Championships in Singapore.
At the age of 18 Eksteen moved to the UK and later Australia to further his competitive career where he went on to achieve excellent results in the Blackpool Latin Competition as the highest placed South African in the youth under 21 section. Eksteen also trained with top international coaches while in the UK representing South Africa, England and Australia with respective partners.
On returning to South Africa Eksteen danced in One night Only for Harold van Buuren and was also delighted to be part of the Saturday Night Fever production. Eksteen also participated as professional trainer on Strictly Come Dancing South Africa where he taught and performed Latin American and Ballroom.
Eksteen tells Karen Hardy Studios… “My love for dance came from a young age and I take great pride in helping others to enjoy the beauty of dance, across all ages and levels of ability.”
